Initial Randomness

As with so many things going on with me, BTG has been in flux recently. After getting partway through Blaugust 2022 and hitting a wall, I took a step back, and here I am. I’m throwing together a new segment that may or may not last because most things decay to entropy on this blog and everywhere eventually, but I wanted to give this a try.

I’m calling this new segment Incoming Chevrons, and I base this on the idea that I’ve got a lot of exciting things that come my way, and I figured the very least I could do is throw together some highlights so that perhaps others could take a peek. I call it incoming because these things come at me throughout the day, and I name them chevrons for the symbols on the Stargate that allow travelers to go wherever they want.

More than likely, I’m going to highlight a few things here, but I may take some items that particularly interest me and expand on them in other segments or posts, but we’ll see. I want to start small so that I’m more likely to keep things rolling.

In any case, here are my initial chevrons:

The Chevrons

• The Padres pull off a 2-1 series win against the Mets and head to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers in the next round of the MLB playoffs.
• In House of the Dragon watching, I have to say that Prince Daemon Targaryen is a badass in episode 8.
• In my ongoing plumbing adventure, I learned that saltwater poured into the pipes slows down growth or even kills roots.
• In my reading of Off Armageddon Reef, the church, run by the Group of Four on Safehold, is gearing up for a war with Charis.
• 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the best Sci-Fi movies of all time, and I love it!
• I just learned that Steven Spielberg did not direct Poltergeist.
• I received my 2022 midterm ballot and am looking forward to deciphering all the propositions we tend to get here in California.
