Ramble for July 23, 2022

With one of the top television productions of the past ten years, one of the greatest comic titles of all time, and the top-grossing movie franchise of all time, Saturday at Comic-Con was a busy day. And that’s just in Hall H!

House of the Dragon

The Game of Thrones universe continues as House of the Dragon gets started later this year. I’m certainly excited and think that Matt Smith (AKA Doctor Who) will make a great Targaryen. It’s silly to think that television production is already coming out with it’s second series based on the books while good ole George R.R. Martin still has not finished his series.

The Sandman

I think this show is gonna be really cool. Based on the comic, one of the best of all time, and with the pedigree of Neil Gaiman, all indications point to this being adaptable to the screen. With ready-made stories to tell and interesting characters to draw from, I think this could be a good series that lasts for quite a few seasons.

MCU Phase 5

While DC may have had a smaller than usual presence at Comic-Con this year, Marvel is here in force. They took the opportunity to lay out their plans for the next few years and presented their schedule for the Multiverse Saga. Or at least Phase 4 and 5 of the MCU.

We’re in the middle of Phase 4 with only a few titles left, as you can see…

Phase 5 is the ‘second part’ of the Saga and will feature some new and interesting characters…

It all looks great, if not a bit overwhelming, to have all these superheroes coming at us in the next few years.
