Patches, More Patches, and Reading

Another LOTRO Setback

Ok, I don’t know what it is, but it sure seems like LOTRO is actively trying to get me NOT to play. 2 days ago, I realized I had named my character wrong. Yesterday I had an update to download. This morning, I couldn’t get past the loading screen. What’s up? I really would like to play and celebrate the anniversary and such, but things keep conspiring to keep me outta the game. It’s not like I have tons of time as it is, and when I keep hitting roadblocks, it becomes frustrating and makes me think I should play another game. As it was, I spent yesterday playing a match of SMITE and this morning I loaded up League to get a game in…happily, I won both. This afternoon while at work, I did use me iPad to log into LOTRO so I know the game at least works when I can’t play it…hopefully soon I’ll be able to log in when I have game time to spend.

SMITE & League

Patches are also frustrating in these games. Not so much in SMITE yet, but that’s mainly because I don’t know what to expect from the gods yet, but with major changes to gods/champions every other week, it’s no wonder I have trouble gaining rank. What’s the deal with these rapid changes? Sure, it make it appear that these games are updating a lot, but it just means that things are never the same. I can go into a game one day and have Magic Resist on an item or mana costs constant for each level and the next day things are completely different. At least from what I can tell, SMITE provides the notes BEFORE the patch is released – League always seems to wait till the last minute to actually tell us what they changed <= past tense. In any case, I am getting really tired of trying to hit a moving target. I mean, sure, I’m not a hardcore gamer anymore, but it’d be nice if I could actually play a game and not have to constantly read notes about how the game keeps changing every week. Maybe I should just find an old game that the developers no longer update so I can play rather than read about all the changes?
