Jousting Mr Twtister and Saving the School

Daily Ramble 58: Jousting Mr Twtister and Saving the School

AFKs can really bring down a match and too many can really hurt my willingness to play a game. League had plenty but then it also had some really toxic players. SMITE has it’s share too, but they don’t seem to be as prevalent. Today though, I got a full serving and I was not pleased. I did get a couple full team games in though so it kinda worked out, I just hate wasting time when people don’t show up to the game. To get past the frustration, I read not just the continuation of Wolverine & the X-Men, but I also finished off the Titans Hunt storyline.

Jousting through AFKs

Well it had to happen sooner or later, but today seems to be the day I had to deal with AFKs in my SMITE games. Actually, I’ve had to play through them before but today I had 3 in a row. 3 games where someone either never showed up after making a selection in the pre-game or bailed out after a few minutes. It really sucked but at least it was casual play rather than ranked (I still haven’t gotten the nerve to try out ranked play).

So even though the AFKs didn’t impact my ranking, they did hurt my ability to work on learning new gods. For whatever reason, all 3 of the games I had AFKs in were ones where I was trying to practice using Scylla. I’ve played her plenty but I wanted to get a better feel since I’ve only got her to mastery level 1. With the AFKs I didn’t get a real chance to work on her since I had to change up my builds to get more tanky and we pretty much got destroyed – each of the games were Jousts where we ended up in a 2v3 situation. Either way you play it…a mage/hunter or a mage/guardian just doesn’t cut it against a team of 3.

Fortunately though, I did get to play a couple of matches with a full team. These featured me playing Kukulkan and we won all 3. I was frustrated that I kept getting AFKs so I went with a god I knew better and at least felt like I had something of a chance if there was another AFK – funny that I didn’t have another missing teammate.

Titans Hunt Concludes

After diverting to Marvel for an issue, I came back and finished off the Titans Hunt story arc, and I’m glad I did – it was a fitting ending.

The team got their memories back but rather than sticking to who they were, they melded who they’ve become with their history to evolve into a team capable of defeating Mr. Twister. These new Titans are much more grown up since they regained their memories and I think they’ll be a fun team to follow as Rebirth begins.

Speaking of which, Rebirth starts with the next issue of DC Comics I read so I’m happy to finally have made it to the beginning.

Jean Grey School for Higher Learning

I jumped back to finish off Titans Hunt, but then came back to Marvel to continue my reading and things are not looking good for the new school Wolverine wants to set up.

Not only are the assessors for the New York State Department of Education turning into monsters, but the Hellfire Club has it’s mind set on destroying the place before the first day is done. All hell is breaking loose as Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, Beast and Rachel Grey try to hold the school together while ensuring the safety of the new students. The “adults” are coming through though and the kids are even helping out.
