Comics to Read in February 2018

Daily Ramble 142: Comics to Read in February 2018

With my plans for January comic reading over the past month I actually read more comics than I have in quite a while and I enjoyed diggin in to all the stories. I’m gonna continue with that type of planning this month in hopes I’ll keep up with the various stories I’ve got going on.

Letter 44 volume 3: Dark Matter

This series is really getting good. I was totally surprised with the nuclear bomb going off and being caused by Germany. They got what they deserved though. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see how things settle out on Earth while the astronauts actually spend time with the aliens. Are they gonna be belligerent or are they peaceful extraterrestrials?

Marvel 1963

Spider-Man is starting to hit his stride in 1963 and Iron Man made an appearance last month so it’ll be interesting to see how Marvel does moving into February where I’m gonna try to read another 10 issues. Unfortunately there are no issues of Amazing Spider-Man in this run. We do get to see Doctor Strange, the Wasp, Iron Man, and Doctor Doom though.

  • Strange Tales #110
  • Journey into Mystery #94
  • Tales to Astonish #45
  • Tales of Suspense #43
  • Fantastic Four #15
  • Strange Tales #111

DC Rebirth

DC Rebirth is running on all cylinders as we move into February. This month I’m looking at moving beyond Superman and Action Comics and onto another member of the Justice League. The big star for February will be Green Arrow who is a character I haven’t read much of – except for a bit part in the JLA series I just finished.

  • Super Woman #1
  • Green Arrow: Rebirth
  • Green Arrow #1
  • Green Arrow #2
  • Green Arrow #3
  • Green Arrow #4
  • Green Arrow #5
  • Suicide Squad Special
  • Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Coprs: Rebirth

Star Wars

This month I wanted to add Star Wars to my 10 issue reading list since I enjoyed Yoda’s war from last month. I also know there are a ton of Star Wars comics I want to read and a whole chrolonogy to get through. The question I have for myself though is how I’m gonna fit the cartoons and movies that are part of the timeline into my reading. As things go, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace is supposed to take place in time after the 5th Darth Maul issue. And Episode II Attack of the Clones comes after Obi-Wan & Anakin #5.

Paper Girls volume 1

This is a fun read by Brian K. Vaughan who’s written a bunch stuff I’ve liked. The story revolves around a group of girls who deliver papers on Halloween in the year 1988. It’s kinda like Strager Things with girls so I’m looking forward to rereading it. These girls are pretty tough and the story is interesting and weird – it’s got aliens, dionosaurs, time travel, and more – a lot of fun.

Mister Miracle is currently one of the hottest comics series being produced so I figured I’d start back at the beginning. This is from Jack Kirby and from what I can tell, covers 18 issues from the Fourth World. I’m looking forward to it.

One-Punch Man

I’ve been wanting to read a manga for a while and this one in particular since I watched the anime a year or so ago. In this the hero doesn’t really want to be a hero but he’s got an uncanny knack of being able to defeat anyone with a single punch. The anime was great and I can’t wait for the next season so I’m happy to see this on Comixology.

Modern Marvel

The Avengers vs. X-Men story is starting to get real. Cyclops and Captain America are going at it and loyalties are being stressed. I’m enjoying all the action and fighting…and the Phoenix hasn’t even shown up yet.
