Neila Rey’s Geeky Workouts – Week 4 Day 3 [EXE]

It is fun checking the guild forum everyday to see what exercises are in store for me. As I mentioned, the person laying out the workout plan is in much better shape than I am so I am not following the workouts perfectly, but I am getting better. He is pulling the routines from a website with some really good fitness information called neilarey.com. What is neat about this site is that it ties fitness routines with geekiness. The newest workout is called Lannister and others include Wolverine, The Hulk, Matrix, and Highlander. I think it is a great idea to tie workouts to things close to a geek's heart – it might make them – me – exercise more. Maybe by thinking that I might get as strong as the Hulk or agile as Spiderman by doing these routines, I will keep with them better and actually get fit. We'll see how it goes.

Today's workout was called the Squatter HIIT. This is another High Intensity Interval Training so it pushes you to get things going fast, but the workout is completed quickly. Here is a picture of the workout from neilarey.com.

I do things a bit differently since I don't think I can hit the level I goal of 5 rounds. Someday I am sure I will be able to do that, but for today, I took the 3 exercises and set up a schedule to do each one for 20 seconds with a 20 second break in between. Then I repeat that for a second round and then go for my run.

Week 4 Day 3:

  • 2×34 Push-ups
  • 2×30 second Planks
  • 10 Plank Reaches
  • 2×20 second HIIT
  • – 16/14 Squats
  • – 13/13 Jumping Knee Tucks
  • – 18/19 Plank Jacks
  • Running 20:04 minutes = 1.65 miles

Once again I felt good after my running – so much so, that I did not have as much trouble as I feared doing the second set of 34 push-ups after my run. Hope this continues.
