Shut Down Again

With 8 hits in the past 2 games, the Angel offense has been completely outdone. Yesterday wasn’t as bad as the shutout on Monday but the result was the same…another loss.

Slaughtering the Lamb

While the offense was quiet again, John Lamb got killed by the Red Sox. I suppose it wasn’t really a fair contest since Lamb hasn’t won a game since 2016 but with the Angels’ injuries they’ve got no one else to put out on the mound. I’m thinking they should hold some tryouts to see if we could find someone who can pitch.

In any case, Lamb was overpowered by one of the top offenses in the league and choked up 5 runs, 3 earned, in 1 2/3 innings. There wasn’t much more after that as David Price dominated the soft hitting Angels.

Actually the one high point was Chris Young’s home run in the 3rd but that was it.

The Angels only managed to grab 5 hits all day and other than the home run, they were all singles. Kinsler did the best, going 2 for 4 but I give my Player of the Game to Young since he was the only Angel to cross the plate.

The loss, coupled with an Oakland win set the Angels in 4th place behind Houston, Seattle, and Oakland. At 11 1/2 games back, they’ve got a lot of catching up to do, I just hope they have enough time.

Today, the Angels put Andrew Heaney (4–5, 3.43 ERA) on the mound against Rick Procello (9–3, 3.44 ERA) in a hope to get their first win against Boston this year.
