Where’s the Offense

If it wasn’t for Mike Trout everyone would really be asking where’s the offense for the Angels. They just can’t seem to consistently go out each day and score runs.

Barria has an OK Day

And when the starting pitcher struggles to get through 5 innings it really doesn’t help when the offense can only muster 6 hits. I really don’t blame the loss on Barria though, since he only gave up 2 earned runs and one unearned, but he still took the loss on his record. It was really the offense who should take the loss and they do, falling to 6.5 games behind the Mariners.

Jaime Barria pitched his way outta jams but after throwing over 50 pitches in the first 2 innings I knew he wasn’t gonna last far into game. But on another day when Mike Trout hit 2 home runs you’d expect things to go your team’s way. Nope.

For the second night in a row, Trout smacked 2 balls outta the park and for the second time the Angels lost. Trout is doing everything he can to try to spur this offense into action, even robbing opponents of their own home runs. But no one really seems to want to help him. Even Kinsler is back to struggling these past two games.

On Tuesday, Trout went 3 for 5, picking up half of the Angels hits, scoring two thirds of their runs and knocking in all of them. Other than Justin Upton who had a double and Luis Valbuena who picked up a couple of singles, the rest of the team could have practically watched from home, like I did.

With Ohtani out for who knows how long, Calhoun MIA the whole season so far, and Upton carrying 18 more strike outs than hits, I really don’t know how this team had such a good off season. Right now they hanging on to 3rd place in the AL West, barely, and that’s only because Trout is the best player in baseball.

Needless to say, Mike Trout is my Player of the Game.

Today is a day game in a Seattle with Garrett Richards (4–4, 3.26 ERA) trying to salvage a victory at Safeco Field against Marco Gonzales (7–3, 3.28 ERA). Hopefully he can prevent a sweep.
