September 2018 Gaming Plans

September starts off with a bang and I’m hoping to get well on my way towards my gaming goals during the first week of the month. With the Labor Day holiday I think I can get things rolling and get into the 2 games I’m interested in that are new for me – Everquest 2 and Warframe.

Standard MMOs I Want to Play

  • Everquest 2
One of the guilds I’ve played with in the past has started up a Game of the Month and they voted to join Everquest 2 this month. I’ve played a bit of the original Everquest way back when and a little with some of the progression servers but had some issues I’ve mentioned about sticking with it. The death penalty and corpse campers were the big ones and from the looks of things, there won’t be much of that in EQ2 – at least at this point in its evolution. Regardless, I’m gonna give the game a chance and see how it runs. I’m committing myself to getting to level 20 this month but I could push further if I like the game. So I’ll start with a goal of level 20 and a stretch of 30. We’ll see since I’m not even sure how long it takes to level in this game.
  • Secret World Legends
I’ve got 2 goals in this game for September…1) finish off the quests in Blue Mountain so I can move out of New England; 2) finish off the Dawning of an Endless Night quest line. This mission is the overarching mission of the first part of the game and one I’ve never finished on any of my characters. I am determined to get through this part of the game with Mellari and my goal is to get through it this month.
  • World of Warcraft
I finished out last month playing Warcraft as my main MMO but I wasn’t playing a whole bunch so I didn’t get to far along in the leveling process. I wanted to start a fresh character with the new expansion so that I would be familiar with the class so I started up a brand new hunter. I figured hunters are usually pretty easy to level up and I could get to max level and start a Druid or something in one of the new allied races. Needless to say I still have a ways to go as I’m sitting at level 10 starting the month. I figure a good goal would be to try to get up to 20 for the month with a stretch goal of level 30. That should get me started on my way without requiring me to spend all my time in Warcraft.

MMO Book Club

The MMO Book Club is headed to Warframe this month and I’m headed there with them. I tried the game out twice in the past and as I mentioned before, I never stuck with it. I’m gonna give it the ole MMO Book Club try this month and hopefully it’ll last this time around.

The Witcher 3

This game is a bit of a different bird than the rest so while I want to get into it and to play it this month, I’m not sure how to quantify my goals. At the very least I want to get into the “In Ciri’s Footsteps” questline in Velen, it I think more than that, I’d like to get comfortable with the controls and my abilities. I think this could be a fun game but I gotta give it a serious try first.

  1. You’ll easily get much farther than level 30 in EQII within a month, up to level 85 or so leveling is a breeze nowadays.
It’s a fantastic game though, I hope you’ll enjoy it.
