My Pull List for Week 50 of 2018

I almost jumped into a DC title from DC Universe this week but I’m still smarting from the disastrous way they’ve treated their comic fans with this service. They keep promising change but its gotten to the point where I have stopped checking the service I’m paying for. It really sucks that it seems more like a paid forum for DC TV and movies but I have a little bit of hope that their promise to update their comic book section in 2019 will come true. With that in mind I’ll hold off picking an issues from them until next year.

I’m still working my way through My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Emil Ferris and I have to say…the art is incredible! I’m taking my time getting through these 380+ pages since it’s so beautiful.

From Marvel Unlimited New Releases: Two of these are catch ups while another is part of the new Fresh Start for Marvel and I’m not really sure what category Dazzler falls into but it looks interesting.

  • X-Men: Red #2 by Tom Taylor and Mahmud A. Asrar.  Published by Marvel Comics, 2018 – picking up where I left off.
  • Star Wars #44 by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca.  Published by Marvel Comics, 2018 – I decided to start from the beginning of the story arc rather than at the end with issue #44 instead of #49.
  • Dazzler: X-Song #1 by Magdalene Visaggio and Laura Braga.  Published by Marvel Comics, 2018.
  • Doctor Strange #1 by Mark Waid and Jesus Saiz. Published by Marvel Comics, 2018.

From Comixology: This week there seem to be a bunch of titles from Image Comics that look pretty good though I’m not necessarily pulling the issue released this week. It’s been a while since I have been looking at current week issues that look cool so I’ve got plenty that I’ve gotta catch up on and 4 of these 5 fit that category.

  • Hit Girl #1 by Mark Millar and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz.  Published by Image Comics, 2018 – this is already on issue 11 but I wanted to see if I liked where it all began.
  • The Magic Order #1 by Mark Millar and Olivier Coipel.  Published by Image Compics, 2018 – another Mark Millar comic that I wanted to start from the beginning since it’s already on issue 5.
  • Bitter Root #2 by David Walker, Chuck Brown, and Sanford Greene.  Published by Image Comics, 2018 – I really enjoyed the premise laid out in the first issue where monsters are possessing people in 1920s Harlem and Sangerye family are there to stop them.
  • James Bond: Origin #1 by Jeff Parker and Bob Q.  Published by Dynamite Entertainment, 2018 – once again I want to start off at the beginning of the arc so I’ll pick up #1 rather than the current #4.
  • Ice Cream Man #1 by W. Maxwell Prince and Martin Morazzo.  Published by Image Comics, 2018 – the second trade paperback comes out this week and I’ve heard some good things about this title so once again, I thought I’d start at the top.

From Marvel Unlimited 1963: I’m actually gonna read from my backlog from last week since I didn’t get the opportunity to read these comics since I was sick.

  • Fantastic Four Annual #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Published by Marvel Comics, 1963.
  • Avengers #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.  Published by Marvel Comics, 1963.
  • Tales of Suspense #45 by Stan Lee and Don Heck.  Published by Marvel Comics, 1963.
  • Tales to Astonish #47 by Stan Lee and Don Heck.  Published by Marvel Comics 1963.
