2019 Has Begun

Daily Ramble 1 of 2019

Welcome to 2019!

I’m looking forward to a good year in 2019 as I’m working hard to become more organized, more productive, to read more, and learn more. (That’s a lot of 2019s in a few sentences!!!) As usual, I’m not really setting any New Year’s resolutions since I think the beginning of the year isn’t the best time for me to be starting something new – I’d rather buck the popular trends and set resolutions a couple months in (after everyone has already abandoned their New Years goals). Regardless I am looking forward to making this a great year in gaming, reading, learning, reading comics, watching shows, and blogging and I hope you’re able to accomplish your goals this year as well.

Every College Team I Supported Lost

I find it hard to believe, especially since I didn’t always go for the underdog, but every team I rooted for this weekend lost…Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Michigan, Washington, Utah…all had trouble.  I suppose it doesn’t really matter in the finals since I really don’t care who wins since I’m kinda tired of seeing these 2 teams in the playoffs.  Oh well…this just means football is over and baseball will be starting soon.  Yup…I’m still boycotting the NFL for the fact they promote politics over the game.

Trying to Play ESO

I suppose I had more issues these past few days beyond rooting for a bunch of losers…I couldn’t log in to Elder Scrolls Online.  I’m pretty sure I got stuck with a legacy password since I never remember telling Bethesda who my favorite cartoon character was and I certainly didn’t write it down like I do all my password information, but they kept insisting I give them the name.  Grrr…not only could I not log in but I couldn’t even update my password since I needed that character name to have them send the email.  Oh well.  I’ll have to wait to get into the game.  Actually, this game is one of the new monthly selections for the MMO Book Club which changed their name at the start of the year – they are now calling themselves the Gaming Nomads and are not just focusing on MMOs or a single game for the month, but are playing a variety of games across a wide range of genres – Minecraft, ESO, League of Legends just to name a few.

A Graphic Novel about Fake News…

Finally, I started reading Sabrina last night.  So far this seems to be a pretty intense comic where a woman has gone missing and we’re starting to see the effects of this on her friends and family.  This comic was the first graphic novel longlisted for the Man Booker Prize for the best original novel written in the English language and published in the UK.  Novels like The English Patient and The Life of Pi have won this award so it’s kinda a big deal that a comic book was even considered.  In any case, the story by Nick Drnaso is pretty good so far and I kinda like the understated art – it kinda makes me feel like things are more serious.
