DC Universe New Weekly Releases August 20, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that were released August 15th 2018:

DC Universe New Weekly Releases August 20, 2019:

  • Aquaman #39
  • Batgirl #25
  • Batman #53
  • Batman: Sins of the Father #12
  • Batwoman #18
  • Damage #8
  • Green Lanterns #53
  • Harley Quinn #48
  • Injustice 2 #71
  • Injustice vs. Masters of the Universe #2
  • Justice League #6
  • New Challengers #4
  • Wild Storm #16
  • Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye #6

14 new comics released today compared to 17 last week. Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. Only 2 issues meet my current threshold for top honors this week (rating 8.5 or over with more than 3 reviews).

  • Batman #53
  • Justice League #6

Closing it Down

There were no Number Ones this week but there were a few stories that were finishing off.

  • Batman: Sins of the Father #12
by Christos N. Gage and Raffael Ienco
Batman and Deadshot face off in the conclusion to this series.
  • Batwoman #18
by Marquerite Bennett and Fernando Blanco
This is the end of the Fall of the House of Kane story line and the end of the series.
  • Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye
by Jonathan Rivera and Michael Avon Oeming
This issue b ring Cave’s latest adventures to a close and while I enjoyed the first series with his cybernetic eye, I haven’t read any of these…I better remedy that since this is a fun read.

Jumping on Points

  • Batgirl #25
by Marguerite Bennett, Mairghread Scott, Paul Dini, Dan Panosian, Paul Pelletier, Emanuela Lupacchino, and Tom Derenick
This issue is kinda a midpoint between stories as Barbara gets back to Gotham in this anniversary issue.

Events

  • Aquaman #39
by Dan Abnett, Rob Williams, and Vicente Cifuentes
Continues the Sink Atlantis story line started last week in Suicide Squad #45
