DC Universe New Weekly Releases September 3, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that were released August 29nd 2018:

DC Universe New Weekly Releases September 3, 2019:

  • Batgirl Annual #2
  • Batgirl #26

10 new comics released today compared to 17 last week. Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. 2 of the 6 issues meet my current threshold for top honors this week (rating 8.5 or over with more than 3 reviews).

  • Batgirl Annual #2

Batgirl has a brother? And he’s in prison?
  • Batgirl #26
by Mairghread Scott and Paul Pelletier.
Kicks off the Art of The Crime story arc that is somewhat reminiscent of The Killing Joke.

Number Ones

There are 7 NUMBER ONEs this week so there’s plenty of places to start out a new series thought I’m not really sure if the Looney Tunes comics are gonna be series or one-shots. Do Annual #1s really count either? I’ll count them this time…

  • Nightwing Annual #1
by Ben Percy and Otto Schmidt.
Nightwing takes on the army of the Dark Web.
  • Scarlet #1
by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev.
Police corruption and revolutions, this could be an interesting series.
  • The Silencer Annual #1
by Jackson Herbert and Dan Abnett.
This issue give some background to Silencer’s relationships with Talia al Ghul and Batman.
  • Lex Luthor/Porky Pig #1
by Mark Russell, Jim Fanning, Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, and John Loter.
Porky Pig get a job working for Lex…what could possibly go wrong?
  • Harley Quinn/Gossamer #1
by Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Sholly Fisch, Pier Brito, and David Alvarez.
Gossamer washes up on the beach at Coney Island and Harley is happy to have a new teammate.
  • The Joker/Daffy Duck #1
by Scott Lobdell, Joey Cavaleri, Brett Booth, and Norm Rapmund.
Daffy is recruited into The Joker’s gang, but does he really want to team up with the Clown Prince of Crime?

by Gail Simone, Shea Fontana, Inaki Miranda, and Walter Carrzon.
Sylvester and Catwoman team up to take on Tweety.

The Art of The Crime story line gets started with Barbara taking on Grotesque.
