DC Universe New Weekly Releases October 1, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind, I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that was released September 26th, 2018:

DC Universe New Weekly Releases September 24th, 2019:

  • Batman Beyond #24
  • Batman: Kings of Fear #2
  • Detective Comics #989
  • Doomsday Clock #7
  • Flash #55
  • Heroes In Crisis #1
  • Justice League Dark #3
  • Justice League: Odyssey #1
  • Raven: Daughter of Darkness #8
  • The Silencer #9
  • The Terrifics #8
  • Titans #26
  • Wonder Woman #55

Top Comics This Week

15 new comics released today compared to 11 last week.  Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. Only two issues reached the level of my criteria this week (rating 8.5 or over with more than 3 reviews). DC finally got more than a single issue to this threshold this week.

  • Justice League Dark #3
by James Tyrion IV, Alvaro Eduardo, Martinez Bueno, and Raul Fernandez.
I’ve enjoyed the first couple issues of this team-up featuring Wonder Woman, Zantanna, Swamp Thing, Man-Bat, and Detective Chimp.
  • Doomsday Clock #7
by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
The world of the Watchmen and DC are on a collision course with this series and I’m excited to find out how they’re connected.

Number Ones

There are 2 NUMBER ONEs this week so there’s plenty of places to start out a new series.

  • Heroes In Crisis #1
by Tom King and Clay Mann.
A hospital for superheroes? PTSD for the supes? Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman must figure out who’s killing the superheroes trying to recover from crime-fighting trauma.
  • Justice League: Odyssey #1
by Joshua Williamson and Stephan Sejic.
This series kicks off a team of Cyborg, Starfire, Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) and Azrael that heads into space to continue the tale begun in Justice League: No Justice which I found quite enjoyable.

Jumping on Points

DC came out with 2 number 1s this week and here’s another place to jump into a series where the title is a bit more fleshed out than the #1s.

  • Doomsday Clock #7
by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
The second half of the Doomsday Clock tale starts in this issue as we learn more about Dr. Manhattan’s interest in the DC Universe.

Concluding Issues

Some stories have been told and transform into something new. There were 2 series that completed a story arc this week.

  • Batman Beyond #24
by Dan Jurgens and Will Conrad
The final issue in the Target Batman story with Bruce Wayne and the Creeper joining forces to take on Scarecrow.
  • Wonder Woman #55
by Steve Orlando and Raul Allen.Wonder Woman and Artemis stand in the middle of a fight among the exiled Amazons.
