DC Universe New Weekly Releases November 19, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind, I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…
Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that was released November 14th, 2018:

Top Comics This Week

12 new comics released today compared to 11 last week.  Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. Two issues attained the criteria for my Top Issues this week (8.5 rating from 2 or more sites) and a third was close so I added it in.

  • Plastic Man #6
by Gail Simone and Adriana Melo.
It all ends here! Will Plastic Man survive an attack by…another Plastic Man? And if he manages that, will he survive a face-off against the super-villain who set up that first battle? And what about the rest of the super-cabal standing by to see the outcome of those fights? And then…you know what? Let’s have some faith in Mr. O’Brian, who has eeled his way out of all sorts of trouble so far.
  • Superman #5
by Brian Michael Bendis, Joe Prado, and Ivan Reis.
What could tempt Kryptonian criminal General Zod to reenter the Phantom Zone after years of imprisonment? As Superman tries to free himself from the Kryptonian jail and fight off the monster who destroyed Krypton, Zod returns to face Rogol Zaar and get vengeance for his dead world and its lost potential.
  • Hawkman #6
by Robert Venditti and Bryan Hitch.
Good things really do come in small packages! Longtime wingmen Hawkman and the Atom (Ray Palmer) continue their battle against the rampaging Moz-Ga in the depths of the Microverse, and though the heroes have shrunk, the stakes are enormous! That fateful battle leads our heroes to the next clue in Hawkman’s quest, one that will finally reveal the secret of his origin!

Number Ones

DC actually had a Number One this week:

  • Electric Warriors #1
by Steve Orlando and Travel Foreman.
A new tale of the future DC Universe, set in a previously unexplored timeline-the Cosmic Dark Age! Years after the Great Disaster, the Earth has started to rebuild and rejoin the universal coalition. In order to prevent a galactic war, different worlds throughout the known cosmos have created a new system of competitive combat to give each participating planet their own voice in the intergalactic struggle. Each world has one diplomatic gladiator, chosen to possess the Electric Seed and fight for their homeland as the Electric Warrior! Each fighter forsakes their personal life in the name of peace. So what happens when Earth can’t choose a single combatant and sends two instead? The bruiser War Cry represents the humans of Earth, while Deep Dweller, a shape-shifter from the Octopus Tribe, represents the animal kingdom. Can they maintain one common goal, or will they tear Earth’s tenuous coexistence to shreds and destroy the rest of the universe with it? Oh, and War Cry also has a powerful relic from Earth’s past: Superman’s cape!

Starting Points

Along with the Number Ones, there are other issues this week that kick off a new storyline or graphic novel…

  • Titans #29
by Dan Abnett and Minkyu Jung.
“MAROONED” part one! After their battle with Storrm above the Drowned Earth, the Titans find themselves lost…in space! Stranded on an alien planet-far away from their Earthbound responsibilities, with no means of getting home-they’re forced to fight against an enemy that has been lurking in the shadows since the inception of this version of the Titans: their own inner demons. And maybe some outer demons as well!
  • Wonder Woman #58
by G. Willow Wilson and Cary Nord.
“THE JUST WAR” part one! A new era of Wonder Woman begins as best-selling writer G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) makes her return to DC with art star Cary Nord (Conan, THE UNEXPECTED) joining the series! Far below Themyscira, Ares, the God of War, has been imprisoned for generations, repenting his past sins. But his new cellmate Grail may have an unexpected effect on him…and the plan they’ve come up with will change Themyscira-and the world- forever! When Wonder Woman rushes to Eastern Europe to rescue Steve Trevor from a mission gone wrong, she’ll find herself face-to-face with a very new, very different God of War!

Concluding Issues

Some stories have been told and transform into something new.

  • Hawkman #6
  • Plastic Man #6
