Marvel Unlimited New Weekly Releases March 2, 2020

Marvel releases comics to the Unlimited platform about 6 months after they come out in floppy format so this week we are seeing comics from August 28, 2019. In an effort to try to read some more “modern” issues, I’ve been tracking what’s currently being released and trying to catch up from recent number ones…we’ll see how that goes.

Marvel released over 25 comics this week and I think that’s just crazy. I didn’t have the opportunity to gather all the information for all of them with blurbs and authors and artists and such so I’m just listing the issues and the top comics of the week. Perhaps I’ll get to the other hightlights I like to gather each week, but with so many comics, I just haven’t had time lately.

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that were released in August 2019:

26 new comics released today (last week had 17).  Anyway, looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. This week I see that 7 issues attained the 8.5 rating or above with more than 2 reviews.

  • Absolute Carnage #2
by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
After the terrifying conclusion of ABSOLUTE CARNAGE #1, a new player is on the board, and it’s NOT who you’d expect!  Barely able to escape with their lives, SPIDER-MAN and VENOM have no choice but to drag a slew of other heroes into Carnage’s crosshairs.  Worse yet, Carnage’s rampage through New York City claims an unexpected piece of collateral damage…and there’s NOTHING Venom or anyone can do to stop it!
  • Doctor Strange #18
by Mark Waid and Jesus Saiz.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
Stephen Strange is back on Earth after his Multiversal odyssey with Galactus and Clea.  But is the Multiverse done with Doctor Strange?  A truly terrifying villain is working their way into the Marvel U via a small house in Kansas, in the issue that will have people talking for years!
  • Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #11
by Tom Taylor and Juan Cabal.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
We haven’t seen Mary Jane Watson since #1, but that’s about to change with this almost ALL-MJ issue!  MJ saves Spidey, helps Aunt May and basically saves the day.  Face it, readers, you just hit the jackpot.
  • House of X #3
by Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
Learn the truth about one of the X-Men’s closest allies…and then begin the fight for the future of mutantkind! Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman (AVENGERS, SECRET WARS, FANTASTIC FOUR) continues reshaping the X-Men’s world with Marvel Young Gun artist Pepe Larraz (EXTERMINATION, AVENGERS)!
  • Runaways #24
by Rainbow Rowell and Andres Genolet.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
Look out, West Coast Avengers and Superior Spider-Man! Karolina Dean is searching for a sense of purpose as California’s NEWEST SUPER HERO!  A chance at self-actualization is the best reason to put your life on the line for others! Right?  But what consequences await the Runaways if Nico has to use her magic to support Karolina and keep her safe?
  • Star Wars: Age Of Resistance: General Hux #1
by Tom Taylor and Leonard Kirk.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
MAROONED!  GENERAL HUX and KYLO REN crash-land on a far-off planet.   With no hope of rescue, the two are forced to work together to survive.   But can they survive each other?
  • Thor #16
by Jason Aaron and Michael Del Mundo.
    Published by Marvel Comics, 2019.
ALL-NEW WORLD FOR THE GOD OF THUNDER!
Thor has disappeared! That’s all we can say without spoiling the epic, Midgard-shattering conclusion of WAR OF THE REALMS –
but trust us, you won’t want to miss this issue, which is the kickoff of Jason Aaron’s final Thor story!
