Baby Trout and Murder Falcon

There’s gonna be a new Trout in town come August, and I congratulate Mike Trout and his wife on their coming bundle of joy. I also dove into the first issue of Murder Falcon today and had some fun with it’s heavy metal, life-affirming message.

Heavy Metal For The Win!

Murder Falcon #1 by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer is a lot of fun. It was not on the top of my reading list, but with the book as part of my graphic novel book club, I was happy to get around to it. And I’m glad I did too! Heavy metal, monsters, guitars, and man-sized birds of prey all combine into a rollicking look at life when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

Another first and A Baby Trout

The result of the game wasn’t what I wanted, but Tommy La Stella was able to impress today with his first home run of the Spring. It was a 2-run shot that put the Angels briefly in the lead (2-1) in the 6th, but it wasn’t enough. The Cubs came back with a vengeance and scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to go ahead for good.

I think the worst part of the game was that the runs were given up by pitchers expected to be regulars in the bullpen. JC Ramirez and Cam Bedrosian both had pretty rough outings, giving up a combined 7 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.

On the bright side, though, Mike Trout announced today that he and his wife are having a baby boy. 19 years from now, there’s a great chance we might be seeing a legacy in action.

It’s a Wrap

I’m hoping all the runs given up today and actually over the past few games are just Spring jitters. Hopefully, they will work themselves out now, and once the regular season hits, things will be firing on all cylinders.

Regardless, I’m happy for Mike Trout and the coming addition to his family.

Hey, maybe the kid will be into heavy metal like Jake in Murder Falcon…he is saving the world from monsters, so he’s gotta be a good guy – right?
