Hoping for Redemption

Today I take a quick look at an upcoming mobile game…well, it’s really a PC game that’s coming to mobile, and it’s one I’ve been waiting forever for. I guess I was pretty excited for Albion Online a few years ago when they promised it before the PC game even launched, but…we all know how great developers are when it comes to projecting timelines. I also take a look at my Angels in hopes that they might make this a decent season.

Albion goes Mobile Finally

Hidden among all the other stuff going on these days…TBC dropping, vaccinations, heading back into the office, an animal update to WURM, and many others…Albion sent me an email informing me that I will finally be gaining access to their iOS mobile portion of the game.

Hmm…actually, it seems everyone will have access as they are rolling out the mobile version on iPhone and iPad on June 9th.

This kinda ticks me off since I was with them on day 1 when the game came out. I begged and signed up repeatedly to get into the mobile version of the game, and in reality, that was one of the driving factors for my getting into the game from the start. I paid for the starter pack and a bunch of extras expecting them to come out with a mobile edition – as promised- ‘soon’.

It’s now years later. I have given up hope that the game was ever going to come to my phone or iPad. Now, they tell me I’ll have access in a week.

Thanks for nothing!

I guess I’ll give it a try, but my excitement is definitely not there. Sure, I don’t have any mobile game I’m playing right now, but these guys really burnt that bridge for me.

I’ll see if it’s worth playing on my phone, but I’m not gonna hold my breath.

First of 10

In what will pretty much be a deciding series of games, the Angels kicked off a 7 game homestand against teams they should beat. Realistically, they should win the majority of the next 10 games, considering the Mariners, the Royals, and the Diamondbacks are all worse teams than the Angels on paper. The only problem is that without Mike Trout in the lineup, these teams have thrown away the paper and laugh when they see the pitching staff of my team.

I’m pretty sure that I have never seen my Angels team sport a 5.00 team ERA – they ARE the WORST pitching staff in baseball. Sure, they might have a few high points like Shohei Ohtani, but other than his once-a-week pitching, there is not much to provide rest for the offense. Of course, this is a team built to score runs, but with Mike Trout out, they’re struggling and will continue until July when he gets back.

Anyway, the Angels kicked off their critical 10 game run of games with a pathetic loss to Seattle on Thursday. I guess the good news is the team did not commit any errors, but that’s a pretty slim silver lining.

The chances of this team having even a mediocre year are quickly fading.

It’s a Wrap

I guess I’m still looking forward to seeing where Albion goes with their mobile client, and I’ll certainly give it a shot. Even with my excitement faded, I could use a decent mobile game to play around with, and this one might just hold my interest for a bit.

My interest in the Angels season is diminishing, though, as they keep throwing up losses. These 10 games will be important for them to turn things around this season, and they did not start things off well. Hopefully, the next 9 will show that they really do want to play the 2021 season after all.

So I guess I’m hoping for redemption for both Albion Online and my Angels. Perhaps today will be the day things turn around for both.
