Kicking off a Day of Madness

The madness of March is quickly approaching, and I’ve jumped into 2 different tournaments, one that I’ve followed for the past six years and another that I’m just trying to kick off this year. Of course, there’s always the NCAA tournament that I’ll get into once the brackets come out for that, but I’m having a lot of fun with the couple of contests I’ve started recently.

The Goods

  • To kick things off, yesterday, I moved my March Gaming Madness forward and added 21 games to my selection pool. I’m now up to 27 but and hunting around for 37 more to be able to fill out my 64 game bracket. Thus far, I’ve collected most of the games I’ve played for any real amount of time.
  • I also realized yesterday that the March Mammal Madness tournament was getting started and that they had released a calendar of events. Things are moving pretty quickly as they are already dropping the tournament bracket later today.
  • The division announcements were already made for 2022MMM and consist of Mammal Collectives, WILD North America, Queens of the Sky & Sea, and Why Not Both. Here are the descriptions from the 2022 MMM Educators Packet that you can download from …
    • Mammal Collectives: Collective nouns are a quirk of English, some dating back 500 years: -Pride of Lions -Skulk of Foxes -Labor of Moles* can be applied to animals that aren’t actually social, so may not cooperate in battle encounters.
    • WILD North America: Celebrate protecting & stewarding North America’s ecosystems, featuring a combatant from a specific population in National Parks, Conservation Areas, & Nat’l Forests.
    • Queens of the Sea & Sky: Selection has favored many species where the female is bigger, badder, faster, or more knowledgeable. Learn about some amazing ladies from across the Animal Kingdom!
    • Why Not Both?: A wild selection of wonderful taxa that have weirdo combinations of adaptations! You may say “Tusks or Antlers? The Muntjac says “Why not both?”
  • In my 2022MGM tournament, I’m adding more games to my selection pool. I’m planning on looking at games where I’ve at least installed the game and maybe created a character…we’ll see what I come up with. Will I find 37 more titles?
  • Finally, with the March Mammal Madness divisions already announced, they should be releasing the matchups for the bracket today. I’m looking forward to exploring my first impressions later.

It’s a Wrap

Today is full of madness…gaming madness and mammal madness. With some combatants identified for MGM and the divisions announced for MMM, it’s clear that March is almost here. Later today, we’ll see more games entering the fray and the actual matchups for MMM. Am I ready to identify my picks? No way, but I’m excited at the possibilities.

Overall, yesterday was a good day, and I am looking forward to making today a success as well.
