Back to the Win Column

For 4 games, my Angels team has struggled. They’ve scored some runs and had some well-pitched innings, but they have lost 4 in a row. Today they managed to put things together and get back to the win column. Sure, it was only a 4-game losing streak, but in my book, that was 3 games too many. I suppose I should be realistic, though, since even great teams lose a couple in a row from time to time.

The Rundown

In any case, here are a few things of interest for today…

  • Star Trek pulls out the win

Yesterday Black Desert made a solid push to finish strong against the 10-point lead Star Trek Online held through the first 3 quarters. They came up short, though. While they scored 27 points and held STO to 22, they still lost the wild card match 100 to 95.
Star Trek next faces the number one seed of the Shadows bracket – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

  • Rambleclaw Heads to Combe

In my adventures in LOTRO with Rambleclaw, I advanced through the Archet storyline and made it to Combe. For Beorning, there isn’t much going on in Archet since they start after most of the excitement has already taken place in the village. I did get to say hello to Strider and try to help out Amdir but quickly had to venture forth to Combe in search of help for the stricken ranger.

  • Will there be a Disco Inferno?

Today in my Rambling Redshirt’s Gaming Madness tournament, we have one match in the 4th-quarter, one that is starting up the 2nd-half, and we get the first seeded match of the tournament.
Disco Elysium is in a close battle with Death Stranding, and today will be the final quarter determining the victor in the fight for the Wild Card Under. Half-Life 2 holds the lead at the half over Cyberpunk 2077, and we kick off the contest between number 8 and 9 in the Dark bracket.

Angels Finally Get Another Win

After 4 games where my team could not buy a win, they finally got another win and got back on track. Michael Lorenzen threw 6 shut-out innings and gave up only 3 hits to record his 5th win and bring the team up to 25 and 17.

The bullpen didn’t seem to want this win, though, as they gave up 3 runs in the 8th, but Oliver Ortega was able to stop the bleeding by striking out Luis Barrera with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

It honestly looked like they were headed to another loss along the lines of the past few games. The 4 game losing streak featured too many memories from years past where a good Angel team could not find the pitching to win, but with the good start from Lorenzen, I was hopeful this was a different game.

Home runs by Rengifo and Velazquez lead the scoring for the Angels, and Trout was walked and later scored his 1000th run on a single by Luis Rengifo in the 6th.

In all, it was a good game, although, with recent history as prelude, I was chewing my nails in the late innings.

It’s a Wrap

As I wind down my rambling today, I am so happy to see that my Angels pulled out a win. Hopefully, their struggles are behind them for now, and they can get back to chasing the Houston Trashcans for the lead in the AL West.

In any case, I’m looking forward to making the rest of today a good one, and I hope you all have a great day.
