Is the Black Desert Comeback Enough

The Shadows wild card match finishes up today with a strong showing from Black Desert Online…but is it going to be enough the overcome the 10-point lead that STO has built up over 3 quarters?

Around the Tournamemt

Today we’re back down to 3 matches in play as Divinity won the first wild card matchup yesterday. We’ve still got Under and Winter going strong, and today wild card Shadows finishes out.

Third Quarter at the Disco

Entering the third quarter, Disco held a 3-point lead over Death Stranding, and with the 3rd-quarter focusing on Steam rating, blog numbers, and population, anything can go since these are two strong RPGs. As we get to the rolls, though, Death Stranding only manages an anemic 7 while the Disco dances to a 31. That leaves this match with a 71 to 66 lead for Elysium

Cyberpunk Comes Back

After taking a 1-point lead in the first quarter, Half-Life fails to extend its lead and instead sees Cyberpunk move up to a tie in the quarter based on YouTube, Twitch, and Reddit. With both contestants at 48 points for the first half, this looks like it could prove to be an exciting 2nd-half competition.

Star Trek Online Defeats Black Desert Online

In the main event for the day, STO finishes strong against BDO and wins the wild card matchup.

Black Desert put up a big finish with 27 points, but Star Trek had built up a 10-point lead that proved insurmountable. Star Trek’s 22 points were easily enough to hold on to take the contest 100 to 95.

Star Trek Online will next have to face off against Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Wrapping it Up

As the tournament contests wind down today, we see Star Trek Online emerging victorious over Black Desert Online. Disco Elysium is still holding strong, and we have a neck-and-neck contest between Half-Life 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 at the half.

Tomorrow the seeded contests will get rolling with a contest starting in the Dark Bracket between number 8 seeded Europa Universalis IV and number 9 seed The Division 2.
