Wars in Space and Star Wars

Today I wanted to highlight a couple of YouTube videos that came out recently that really get me excited. The new Eve Online trailer provides a good insight into how the game is really played and I think the more people see it, the more will want to check out the game. The other video is the new Star Wars VII trailer. While it is still a year away, I am really psyched about this movie.

Showing Fleet Life in Eve

While you can play Eve solo, the game is really meant for group play and this trailer highlights the coordination of players. The game really thrives when using voice comms, and for any fleet battle, it is critical that everyone be on the same page or you will lose. The voice comms in this trailer are what this game is all about and I think this makes Eve unique in that you really need that level of communication. Sure in raids it helps to talk, but once everyone understands a fight, you pretty much do the same dance each time. In Eve, every battle is different and the best strategies have to be revised as soon as the fighting begins.

I think this video is so good for the future of Eve, hell – they even made ship fitting and industry look cool. I am really impressed that Eve is doing a lot to shed it's spreadsheets in space image.

The Force Awakens

First of all…John Williams' music.

That music sets the stage for anything Star Wars, and immediately makes me pay attention. I'm not gonna go into the individuality of the storm trooper that is shown. Or the cool rolling robot. Or how sweet it is to see the Millennium Falcon flying around in an atmosphere. Or the tie fighters skimming along the water. I pretty much figure that you all have seen the video already. I just want to put it here so I can come back to watch it again and again.

And then there is this…
