I Don’t Like Resolutions

Not Really Resolutions

I don't like resolutions. Even when it's New Years Day and it's the trendy thing to do. It's probably the time I dislike resolutions most, but then again, I don't have to make any. I'd much rather set goals. But even though I like setting and achieving goals, they are kinda like resolutions at this time of year. So I don't think I want to set any kind of goals right now.

Looking back at last year though, I only had one goal – to get a job. I succeeded with that and I actually also managed to stay in touch with friends I had made at my previous workplace. So far that has been a great thing – I love my new job, I am learning interesting things, and am making some new friends, while I've been able to meet with my old coworkers every month this year.

But looking at my blogging and gaming, I really only had some nebulous ideas about blogging more and diversifying my gameplay. I think I succeeded in this as well. I managed to put together 153 posts this year compared to 45 last year and 53 in 2012, so I definitely blogged more. As for diversifying my gameplay, I tried out a bunch of games this year – Elder Scrolls, Wildstar, League of Legends, iPad games, Civ V, and many others. So I guess even without resolutions, I accomplished some of the things I wanted to do in 2014.

I think since I feel I did well last year and I really don't like resolutions, I'm gonna leave things amorphous again this year. I'd like to blog a bit more. I'd like to complete or reach the end game in a few games this year and diversify what I play. Most importantly, though, I want to continue to have fun playing games and blogging.

I think I can do it and make 2015 a success.

Starting Fresh in League of Legends

I have played a lot of LoL, and not all of it good. I have over 1000 games of some sort, and while I have a winning record, I feel there is a bunch of inertia in my record that is keeping me stuck in Bronze. I did make a brief foray into Silver at one point this last season, but it didn't last. With the start if a new season on the horizon, I am going to start up a new summoner to see how I would place when unencumbered by my 1000 game record. I'll still play my main to see where things go, but I want to start fresh and see how I place with a clean slate.
