Along for the Ride

I’m sure you and everyone else is now in the Overwatch beta…I am.  I didn’t get in until recently since I guess Blizzard has enough beta testers and alpha testers that they don’t want me…oh well, I’ll move along with everyone else and check out the game now.  While being granted this wonderful gift from Blizzard, I’m still gonna play Wildstar…

Overwatch

I played plenty of games of Team Fortress to see that Overwatch is basically the latest revision of that style of game…a style that is not my favorite.  I’ll give the game a shot and check out all the champs just like the rest of you, but I’m a bit skeptical about my long term prospects in the game.  I suppose I enjoyed Unreal Tournament way back on the Xbox and TF2 on PC, but we’ll see.

So far, in the beta, I tried out Symmetra since I tend towards support champs.  She seems pretty fun with her turrets able to focus fire on choke points and act pretty much as fire and forget positional defenders.  I suppose this works better on maps where there is something to defend or assault and would be less effective if you’re just trying to get a bunch of kills. And since I’ve been playing against fairly dumb bots, I haven’t really needed to throw out my shield much.  We’ll see how she does in PvP matches soon enough as I’m about done with her against bots…I want a challenge.

Investigation of the Alien Tower in Wildstar

In Wildstar, it was time to check out that tower…and it turned out that the tower was controling the storm.

So I needed to get in and turn it off, but I had to get past a few of these big guys to pull the plug on the power supply first.

Once I turned down the power, I was able to get to the control device and turn off the storm.

This worked out great and allowed much better views of the surrounding terrain.

That’s the beacon I put up last time.  Maybe the survivors will be able to see it better now that it’s not snowing all over the place.

And here’s a nice view of Settler’s Reach where we are gathering the rest of the Exiles in preparation for the next stage of our lives on Nexus.

I’m sure Commander Durek and Deadeye Brightland have plenty of other missions for me to attend to, so I’ll check with them next time.
