Morning Ramble: Expansion and Death

Morning Ramble for January 26th, 2017 in which my hunter dies for the second time even after taking out a really big bad guy and we learn more about the possible San Diego Convention Center expansion plans.

Destiny Journal Entry #5: A Second Death

So I died again.

It wasn’t how I planned the day. I started out taking pictures of my shiny new Sparrow.

And of me driving around on it…

And then I got down to business. The next mission was to head back to Russia and get some code to establish contact to colonies in the system.

This was going pretty well until I saw something that drew my attention…there was a beam of light coming from the sky. I went to check it out and saw it terminated by a huge dark sphere.

From this thing spewed a bunch of Taken Acolytes who were tough and camaflagued.

And also some Taken Thralls – who could teleport short distances – these guys were tough but I was able to melee with them.

Something called an Acolyte’s Eye also showed up and I’m pretty sure it served the same purpose as the Servitors I ran into yesterday.

The big deal though – and BIG DEAL he was…was Irxori, Lost To Oryx.

This guy was a monster and fortunately there were a couple of level 40s around that I was able to help as they took him down. Lots of good loot.

But that wasn’t where I died.

After taking down this big bad, I headed to where the mission was supposed to take place. I entered the Darkness and started shooting things with my new Trax Callum II-A.

This was single shot, but I’ve learned better how to use the Scout Rifle.

Apparently not well enough though as I was overwhelmed by the enemy and was killed by a Stealth Vandal.

I’m sure I’ll get through this mission tomorrow, but that’s all the time I had today. The big bad was fun to fight, but I think I got a bit rushed when I was back on my mission and got sloppy. Oh well.

San Diego Convention Center Expansion

With the Chargers finally gone from the city, San Diego can focus on expanding the Convention Center and dealing with organizations that want to stay in town – Comic-Con International. The Chargers were so self absorbed and thought so much of themselves that every time a discussion was put forth on expanding the Convention Center, they would dominate the talk and insist that the city build them a new stadium first or as part of any other project.

This basically sunk any proposal that did not put the Chargers first – even after they screwed over the city in the last stadium upgrade and provided a sub-par team for decades (winning teams get new stadiums not teams that struggle to reach 50%).

Now that they are gone, San Diego can focus on better things. Things that have only increased in attendance over the years and that do not require the city to pay for empty seats – yeah the Chargers last stadium deal required the taxpayers to pay the team when they did not sell out Qualcomm Stadium.

Hopefully this will mean the Convention Center will finally get an expansion.

And good news today… A judge ruled that the proposed expansion was legally sound and compliant with the California Coastal Act and California Environmental Quality Act. With these hurdles cleared there are only a whole bunch to go, but it’s a step in the right direction.
