Arizona’s Hope Is Ended

Both leaders won and Colorado kept pace as Oakland still gained a game in the wildcard hunt even though they lost to Minnesota.

Houston maintained their dominance over the Angels and reduced their magic number to 3 to win the West with a 6–2 victory. Framber Valdez struck out 9 in 6 inning of relief and Evan Gattis went 3 for 3 in the game.

In LA, the Dodgers improved to 14–5 against the last place Padres with a dominant 14–0 outing. Hyun-Jin Ryu excelled on both sides of the scoring as he went 6 innings and struck out 8 while going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored at the plate.

Colorado ended Arizona’s post season hope as Kyle Freeland threw 7 strong innings and struck out out 6. The Rockies handed the D-Backs their 16th loss of the month 2–0 and slammed the door in their face. The Rockies are still looking to see if the can play in October as they’re still looking up at the Dodgers and Cardinals.

The other wildcard hopeful, Oakland, faltered but still gained In their magic number as Seattle lost as well. They were put down by Texas who may very well have seen the last home game by Adrian Beltre at Global Life Park.

Finally, San Francisco let the Cardinals keep their push for the playoffs ahead of the Rockies as they lost 2–9 to St. Louis.
