3 Helpful Resources for Building your Secret World Character

In preparation for the early access period of the Secret World, I went in search of information about the skills and abilities that make up a character in the game.

The secret world ability wheel

With the classless and level-less system, you get the opportunity to mix and match the 500+ skills to make a ‘deck’ of 7 active and 7 passive abilities that will hopefully be able to take on the zombies and demons of the world, but which ones work well together? I found a few good indications of how things fit together in these articles on character design.

  1. The first resource I looked at for information, was drawn directly from the developers. Martin Bruusaard gives a good description of the various components of character building and development in his blog post on character development at the main secret world web site.
  2. Following up on this information, Seki performed an in depth analysis of the weapon synergy and builds of various ability combinations in the forums. His spreadsheet provides a good visual of how the different weapons inter-operate on damage, state, and trigger characteristics.
  3. Finally, Yokai expands on the previous two articles by looking more closely at how passive abilities provide a bridge between weapon abilities. His wiki contains a lot of other information, but for character building, I found his article on build mechanics and build philosophy very informative.

I hope this helps anyone looking for information about building their first character. Like in other games, I am drawn to a healing and support role, so I will probably be looking to incorporating Fists, Assault Rifle, and Blood Magic into some build combination.
