Level 2 in 5 minutes rather than 1 hour

On the Ragefire EQ progression server it took the better part of an hour to level up my bard to level 2. In comparison, I started my Orc Hunter in WoW and it took all of 2 quests to get up to the same level.

The first quest was a simple visitation quest where I had to walk from Kaltunk who started the game right in front of me with a huge yellow exclamation mark. I had to walk from him to find Gornek in the Valley of Trials. This took all of 5 seconds since Gornek was sitting on the ground on the other side of the campfire from my starting location.

Then, after that difficult quest to start off, I was tasked with shooting a bunch of Mottled Boars that were penned up on a farm. I felt kinda bad about this quest since the boar had no chance of escape and were sitting ducks for me and PigglyWiggly – my pet boar. Completing and turning in this quest a few minutes later and I reached level 2. I think it took all of 5 minutes and most of that was running back and forth to the farm and Gornek.

It is pretty apparent why WoW took the crown from EQ back in the day, but the grind in Everquest is still fun all these years later.
