A Couple of Lazy Movies

It’s been a lazy day today and I just watched a few movies at home. They both turned out to be pretty good but they were almost opposites.

This first was Jack Reacher.

I had heard some negative things about the movie, but I think the one I remember most was that Tom Cruise didn’t look anything like the guy in the books. Well, I never read the books but I can see that Tom might have been a bit on the short side for the role, but in modern movies, they can make anyone look taller or smaller. I went into the movie not really expecting much other than an action flick and that was pretty much what it was. There was a bit of a mystery thrown in but it was fairly easy to figure out. I think the best part was 3 way car chase that had a great finish. In any case, I was entertained and to me that was all that mattered.

The second movie was Big Hero 6.

This was a good movie. It started off a bit slow and contrived, but it really picked up steam and was very touching. I wasn’t sure what to except once again, but I did hear that it was a pretty good movie and I guess I heard right on this one. Disney really did their magic on this one. They really knew how to build up the the characters in a way that made them relatable and I grew very attached. Even though parts were fairly predictable, it was a fun show and I’d watch it again any time.

One thing in common to both was that they set themselves up for sequels. It’s pretty easy to see how they both would follow right along, though for Big Hero 6, I could also see an animated series along the lines of Kung Fu Panda and such.
