My Love of Star Trek

You might know of my love of Star Trek based on my nom de plume, but this lifetime love was sorely tested by the last TV series that cursed the airwaves.  I guess I might be a bit harsh on it, but I really don’t know much as I stopped watching after about the 3rd episode.
While I wasn’t alive when The  Original Series was on the air for the first time, I’ve seen it hundreds of times in syndication. The Next Generation was something that was appointment TV and I watched it religiously. DS9 carried on that tradition and I loved the show…to this day, the Cardassians are still a race fighting the Bajorans and NOT a social media nightmare. Voyager added another twist on the universe and I enjoyed it as a slightly different take on the show I loved.

Enterprise was a great idea and I was totally excited for its take on the Star Trek universe but for me it lost the magic.  From the first few minutes of the first episode I was worried.  What was this crappy song that accosted my ears where a beautiful orchestration belonged?  Some idiot was droning on and whining about….I don’t even remember.  All I recall was that THIS WAS NOT STAR TREK.  I was so upset and out of sorts I don’t even know what happened in that first episode except I think they put a sexy female Vulcan in an shower with the captain. I don’t remember any of the other episodes either and when I came to my senses and realized they were going to play that horrible song to begin every episode, I stopped even bothering to make time for the show.  Granted, with the digital age and availability on Netflixx, I’ve always thought about watching the series and just skipping over the abysmal song but I haven’t given it a shot yet…someday.

In any case, Mr. Peril of Contains Moderate Peril mentioned the horrible ballad in NBI Discord and how he was going to comment of his dislike of the song, and I had to chime in. He even knew the name of the song…I’ve blocked it out.  I just couldn’t pass up commenting about this song and hoping that the new series goes retro and has a boring orchestration for the main theme rather than a lyrical piece of crap like Enterprise.
