5–1 Homestand

After sweeping the Kansas City Royals, the Angels finished a 5–1 homestand and come within a single game of .500 at the Big A.

Sweeping Kansas City

The Angels finally had a good homestand but it hasn’t been without issues. In this game, Shohei Ohtani left early after a blister developed on his right middle finger…not what you want to see but at least that’s all it was. He had thrown 63 pitches and gave up one run over 4 innings, leaving the game behind the Royals but that score wasn’t gonna stay that way for long.

The other sad part of the homestand is that Andrelton Simmons went on the disabled list with a sprained ankle. Hopefully the stay will only be the10 day minimum since he’s such a crucial part of the team.

Back to Wednesday’s game…Ian Kinsler continued to show positive signs with a 2 for 5 night. He hit a home run, scored twice, and knocked in 2 RBIs. Justin Upton also posted a dinger in the 7th which proved to be the winning run.

With him turning things around I have to give Kinsler my Player of the Game. He’s really starting to heat up and while he has a long way to go, it’s good to see him working himself back up to respectability as a hitter.

The team finally gets a day off before heading back on the road Friday to Minnesota. They’ve got a 9 game road trip and hopefully they’ll carry their winning streak with them.
