More Offense in Camden Yards

With the win on Friday the Angels were feeling good heading into Saturday’s game and they had their best pitcher on the mound. Tyler Skaggs may only have 6 wins but his 2.69 ERA was the best on the team, and he didn’t disappoint. While he gave up 2 runs only one was earned and he held the Orioles to those 2 runs for 5 innings. He scattered 4 hits and struck out 6 and set the team in position that they still had a chance headed into the late innings.

Big Eighth Inning

And the bulłen helped out. They actually threw 4 innings of shutout ball and I was impressed. Among the 4 relievers they only gave up 2 hits and surprisingly no runs…

The Angels’ offense on the other hand woke up in the 8th inning. After picking up a run on an Upton double followed by a Simmons single in the 4th the team really woke up in the 8th. With Trout and Upton drawing walks, Pujols followed with a double that scored Trout and then the flood gates were opened. Upton, Simmons, and Kinsler scored and the Angel were ahead 6–2. With solid relief pitching, that’s where the scoring ended and the Angels picked up their 2nd consecutive victory.

My Player of the Game goes to David Fletcher who knocked in 2 runs with his 2 for 4 day and I think made a huge difference in this game. He’s been doing pretty good filling in all over the place and has been pretty valuable with all the injuries the team’s had to deal with.

On Sunday, Deck McGuire (0–0, 6.08 ERA) makes his first start as an Angel against Kevin Gausman (3–6 4.20 ERA) and hopefully he’ll keep up with winning streak.
