Another Injury

Wade LeBlanc got the better of Andrew Heaney again in Seattle on Tuesday and while it was good to see Shohei Ohtani back in the lineup as DH, sadly, we saw Chris Young go down with a hamstring injury and of course he’s headed to the disabled list.

DL Roulette

LeBlanc really has the number for the Angels. He seems to know how to lock them down and prevent them from doing much of anything. Too bad since Heaney had a decent game. Andrew threw 7 innings of 5 hit ball but the hits came in bunches and with walks thrown in, he got himself into trouble. Loading the bases in the first inning was not his plan for the game but after that, he was solid. He only gave up those 3 runs but of course the bullpen couldn’t have a quiet day as Noe Ramirez gave up a home run in the 8th for some Seattle insurance. That one was really crushing since the team threatened in the 8th themselves, getting Calhoun (who came in for Young) to 2nd on a double and an intentional walk to Trout. Too bad Upton flied out.

In reality, I think Upton really had a bad game and I’m wondering if he’s got something going on. He just hasn’t been himself lately and is not hitting with runners in scoring position or pretty much anytime. He’s definitely in a bit of a slump that I hope he breaks out of soon.

And as far as the DL goes…Ohtani came off but Young goes on…the story of the Angels 2018 season.

My Player of the Game has to go to Andrelton Simmons since he scored the only run for the Angels in the 4th. His home run gave the team some hope against LeBlanc but nothing else came of it. He also made some nice defensive plays out at short.

Today, Garrett Richards makes his first start since coming off the disabled list. He’s looking to make a statement that the Angels are not gonna roll over in the AL West. I’m sure he can do it too if the offense can provide him some support. He pitches against Mike Leake who the Angel’s hitters seem to like so hopefully this is a nice offensive game for them.
