Surprise and Indecision

Ramble #3: Surprise and Indecision

This morning I find myself dealing with a huge surprise from the World Series and a dilemma trying to decide what game I should focus on next. Neither is life shattering but they captured my attention enough that I wanted to ramble about my thoughts on them.

Did I say Houston had Good Pitching?

WoW! I am really shocked to see the Washington Nationals leading the World Series 2 games to none. They’ve now won 8 games in a row and have beaten the best the NL threw at them and now they’re 2 games from sending the “best” team in baseball down to defeat in the Series. They have clearly dominated Houston’s vaunted pitching and are clearly the favorites at this point.

After watching Houston for over 170 games I’m truly surprised to see them falling so fast. They dominated all season long and while it sure is true that any team can win a short series, I’m still surprised that they’ve gone down 0–2 with the two best pitchers in the American League. I suppose it’s good that they’ve got a pitcher for their next game that would pretty much be an ace on any other team, but I’m not sure that matters much at this point.

Down 0–2 and heading out on the road for game 3…it’s not looking good. I just wish they looked this bad playing against my Angels during the regular season.

What Game to Play?

It’s been a while since I consistently played any game but I’ve certainly got the itch to get back into…something. Sure, I’ve been beating my head against the League of Legends wall that always seems to give me teammates who think it’s best to try out new champs they’ve never played before whenever I’m in my promotion series. But I need a real game. Something where I’m not just playing for 30-45 minutes and then moving on to another match. I need something where I can explore and wander around a world.

The main issue I have, I suppose, is that I have characters in most of the games I play but first…they’re not at max level so I can’t get into that gameplay and second…I’ve pretty much lost my context with those characters since it’s been a while since I’ve played any of them.

So I suppose the correct question I should be asking in the header for this section is What Game to Play and Should I Start From Scratch? I could go another step further if I pick something like LOTRO, EQ, or WoW and ask if I should play on some progression type server too. I actually enjoyed my time on the LOTRO Legacy server but I’m not sure if now is the time to get back into that sever since they’ve moved through a few expansions I’ve never seen and catchup would take a while.

And I think the bottom line is that I’d like to pick something where I can run from start to max level with. That’s an interesting issue since I haven’t taken many games to max level.

Right now, the two games I’m leaning towards are Secret World Legends and Star Wars: The Old Republic. SWL is on my mind since its such a good game and it’s Halloween time whereas SWtOR is on my mind because I’m catching up on all the movies and some of the comics and novels before the new movie comes out in December. But then I could also see myself jumping back into LOTRO or even Destiny 2…argh! So many choices.

I think I’ll just put it off for another day.

It’s a Wrap

So there you have it…surprise and indecision. I suppose I’m more used to the indecision and procrastination but I’ve also gotten used to overcoming them so I don’t think they will pose much of an on going issue. The surprise will be over soon enough too since Houston will either turn things around or the Series will be over quickly.
