Breakfast in America

This issue is much more what I was expecting from this series after reading the first issue.

The United States has surrendered to Cobra and G.I. Joe has been relegated to a small band of guerrilla fighters poking at the fringes of Cobra’s new world order. Some of our favorite Joes have died, and others are suffering from PTSD as they try to cope with the realities of fighting on their home turf.

Part of that fighting is trying to ensure that the people that are suffering under the oppressive Cobra rule are provided medicine and food to survive in this new situation. Millville, Missouri, is one of those places where the people rely on Cobra for supplies but remember a time when they were free from tyranny.

Roadblock remembers too, and while he’s still recovering from his first kill (in the first issue of the series), he goes above and beyond in this issue to ensure that the town of Millville gets the supplies it needs…before the Joes blow up the only bridge over the Mississippi River into town.

This issue has action, shows the emotion and character of the Joes, and provides an entertaining and thoughtful story. I’m not sure what went on with the second issue in this series, but with this new installment, I think they might be back on track.

Verdict

Give it a Read

At least as far as I’m concerned, I rate it a Read and am feeling good about this series again..
