Star Wars, Ties, and Wolverines, oh my!

General Grievous was one of the most serious threats to the Jedi, and today, I got to take a quick look at some of his background. It certainly made up for the fact that my Angel team tied again, but then the possibility of finding a catcher that can hit the ball as well as throw out runners is worth a tie game, I suppose. Finally, I take a look at the last division in the March Mammal Madness tournament for 2020, and I see quite a few good looking contenders.

Jedi Are Easy to Kill

I’ve been reading a lot about the Jedi and their glorious battles against the evil Separatists, but today I finally get a glimpse of what the other side is all about. Star Wars: Age of the Republic: General Grievous highlights the Separatist general, and gives us a look at what he’s all about. And it isn’t pretty. After killing a couple of Jedi on Ledeve, Grievous finds a Jedi temple to plunder. What he finds inside is pretty interesting and sheds some light on who this cyborg really is.

Another Tie Game

Another day, another tie game. I’m not liking this aspect of Spring Training. I’d like to see the teams play it out and finish off the game one way or the other. This tie game, where they call it at 9 innings thing, is no fun.

I am seeing some good things from the Angels, though. Shohei Ohtani picked up another hit, and I’m really liking catcher Anthony Bemboom. He’s only batting .231 this Spring, but he’s got an arm and smacked a home run today. I like catchers that can throw out runners, but if they have some power too, that’s just a bonus.

While he’s not a lock for the team coming out of the Spring, I look forward to seeing him in the future.

March Mammal Madness

The last bracket to start this year is the Double Trouble division. These guys are so good; they named them twice. No, they’re not named Wolverine Wolverine, it’s their Latin or scientific name – Gulo gulo (interesting fact, gulo means glutton in Latin), or Gorilla gorilla.

I’m expecting some serious battles here, and while he’s only seeded 8th and will probably have to face his most challenging battle in the 2nd round (against the Gorilla), I’m picking the Wolverine for this division.

In any case, I think this will be a fun division with snakes, sharks, one-celled animals, and birds. Truly a diverse bracket and one I think might hold the eventual champion.

It’s a Wrap

Today was a good day. Not only did I have a chance to read a comic to gain some good background information, but I also got to peek the Double Trouble division of March Mammal Madness. Tomorrow I think I’m gonna start laying out my picks since the matches begin soon. Actually, I think the Wild Card match occurs on Monday.
