Happy New Year

Today marks the first day of my new 12 week year, and while the first installment for 2020 was really crazy, I’m kinda hoping the second installment for the ‘actual’ year settles down a bit so I can accomplish some of what I set out to do.

Social Distancing

The big news for the last “12 week year” of course, was the Coronavirus, China Flu, COVID-19, or whatever you want to call the virus that originated in the Wuhan province of China and spread around the world causing illness and death everywhere. I’m pretty sure there has not been one facet of life that has not been impacted by this thing and I’m pretty amazed at how much destruction a virus can have given today’s modern science. While I’m sure we’re still a bit away from a vaccine or cure, I am at least hoping that we can all learn to ‘live’ with the illness until we can wipe it off the planet.

Blapril

The second big news story of my last “12 week year” is that Blaugust spawned a sibling in April. Blapril has been pretty fun so far in terms of the increase in post volume and quality. I personally haven’t been able to address the event much in my posting, but I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve read so far. I’m hoping to be more of a participant in the next few weeks as the event goes on through the end of the month and into May.

A Look to the Future

With those news items, things look interesting for the future. In my next 12 week year, I’m sure the pandemic will continue to influence events and, at least for a while, keep me (and everyone else) mostly indoors. This offers a bunch of opportunities to game, read, and blog.

As for Blapril, this will continue to offer plenty of fun blog posts to read and places to go in the Blogosphere. While we have to remain socially distanced in physical form, the Blogosphere is open for business, and we can all hang out there without fear of catching any nasty diseases.

It’s a Wrap

For once, instead of fearing viruses on our computers, we are more worried about viruses we can actually catch. But in a similar fashion to using anti-virus programs, we all have to be safe as we go about in the world. During this time, Blapril offers us an outlet to break free of the social distancing, and I’m hoping the new bloggers out there take advantage of this time to get their feet wet in the Blogosphere.

For me, I’m gonna jump into this next 12 week year and try to expand my blogging contributions. I’ve seemed to have fallen into a pattern of being more focused on comics than I’d like, so I’m gonna try to reopen my horizons. I’d like to get more content focused on gaming and the books I read, and maybe even a bit of discussion about how I am trying to keep fit while not going outside much.

In all, though, I think even with the craziness that happened, the last 12 week year was a pretty good one. I managed to push out 49 rambles and a bunch of other posts, and I feel pretty good about things. Hopefully this next 12 wee
k year will be just as good, if not better, and I’ll be able to accomplish more of my goals.

12 weeks doesn’t seem like a lot of time, or sometimes it does, but I always look to the fact that I trained for a marathon in only 16 weeks, so 12 weeks is a pretty good chunk of time to get almost anything done.
