Blaugust/Promptapalooza Day 1

I’m not really sure how things are supposed to go for Blaugust this year or at least this August, but I’m gonna try to comment on the prompts presented every day. With that said, the first prompt was published yesterday by Belghast over at Tales of the Aggronaut. He’s the head honcho of all things Blaugust (as usual), and I applaud him for all his hard work in getting this event organized.

Promptapalooza Day 1

Normally about this time of year, I would be working on Blaugust and trying to figure out how I am gonna keep up with all the blogs that are posting every day. This year, I think I’m in a similar situation, except we’re all following a series of prompts that Belghast has put together.

I kinda like it. Not only do we get a bunch of different perspectives on some cool themes, but we also get a chance to explore different blogs.

Maybe this will even get me back into my Six Degrees posts when the dust settles. I used to really enjoy traveling through six degrees of blogging, and if things work out well, I think I’ll jump back on that in September…But for now, we have Blaugust: Promptapalooza.

Changing a Fandom

For the first day of Blaugust, we have a prompt about changing your fandoms…

If you could change anything about one of your core fandoms, what would it be?

The first thing that comes to mind when I read this question is that I’d like to change the fact that my Angels seem to struggle every year. Yup, even in the year when they went to and won the World Series in 2002, they were a Wild Card team and did not win the division.

But that’s baseball. I don’t have much control over that, nor hope that my wanting it is gonna change anything.

I could also wish that comics were more accessible. By that I mean, there are so many stories that are interconnected across so many years and decades, it would take years to try to catch up with them all. But then I suppose that’s part of the allure that comics has for me, so I don’t think that’s really something I want to change.

I suppose right now what I’d like to see change is for the bosses in Nioh to get a little bit easier after every 10 or so times I die. I mean, I don’t mind dying, and I know that the difficulty is part of the allure of the game, but I only have so much time to devote to any game, and I’d like to get through it sometime soon.

So with those three strikes, I suppose the thing I would like to see change about my fandoms would be interplay. I would love to see exclusives done away with. Let XBox players play with PlayStation players; let PC players play with Nintendo players. Let people buy a game once and be able to play with all their friends on whatever platform they have.

That’d be what I change…let everyone play the same games on whatever platform they preferred and let them cooperate and compete with players from every platform.

It’s a Wrap

I think it’ll be interesting to see how Blaugust works out this year. We already had Blapril, and I think that was a resounding success, but we’re all still socially distancing because of COVID.

With everyone still indoors, I think Belghast has come up with an excellent idea for Blaugust, and I’m all on board. We can interact and stay distanced by promptapaloozing.
