A Redshirted Pilgrim

I was looking to rebrand and relaunch my Tannhauser Traveller section away from a kind of travel log of the games I’m playing when I realized I like the way things are there. Instead, I think I’m gonna jump onboard a new concept I’m gonna call Pilgrimage of a Redshirt.

A Pilgrimage

I’m kinda thinking of a Pilgrimage as a quest to accomplish some big overarching goal or to strive to reach somewhere significant in my various worlds of gaming. For instance, I’d think marching from the Shire to Mordor in LOTRO would be a conceptual Pilgrimage even though, of course, that’s only part of the entire LOTRO gameplay. Leveling up from a baby Druid to max level in World of Warcraft would kinda be a Pilgrimage as well. Basically, these are big projects that would involve some level of devotion on my part and dedication to see through to the end. Yeah, I know I usually end up dropping my projects or shelving my characters well before I attain my goals, but perhaps by branding this as a Pilgrimage, I might make things stick. We’ll see. (Also, I’m gonna make this one easy – with one focused on a game I play all the time for stress relief and another focused on a game that is heading towards the end of life)

A Journey In League of Legends

Anyway, with this concept in mind, I’m looking at embarking on a couple of journeys. My first Pilgrimage will be in League of Legends. Why League? I suppose I’ve played way too much League and play it all the time, and I figured that since I play it regardless of if I write about it or just get frustrated, I might as well try to derive some content from the game. There’s certainly plenty of characters to meet and experiences to be had even in a MOBA like League, but I’ve also got some twists I’m planning on throwing in when I embark on my Pilgrimage.

A Journey In Defiance

My second Pilgrimage will target Defiance or Defiance 2050 – I’m not sure. I’ll have to figure out which before I begin of course but then, that’s part of the Pilgrimage – determining where I’m going. In any case, with Defiance and Defiance 2050 turning off the lights in April, I figured it would be good to make one last effort in the game. I’d like to try to see some of the sights, experience some of the story, and get a better understanding of what is dying, now that it has a termination date.

It’s a Wrap

As always, the beginning of a journey tends to bring hope and anticipation and I am looking forward to seeing how things play out. I am definitely hopeful that I will be able to see these adventures to their end and reach the destinations I’ve laid out for myself.
