Results of Round 1 of the Wild North America Division for the 2022 March Mammal Madness Tournament

The 2022 March Mammal Madness tournament continued last night as the first round turned its focus on the Wild North America division. These guys feature a couple of bears, some big cats, a wolf, and some not-so-large rodents. It was also, apparently, the easiest division of pick since all of the favorites won their matches. Of course, that meant that I had a loss since I picked straight higher seeds in a different division and got smacked for that.

I went mostly with the favorites but really felt that the Badger was gonna be able to put together a strong enough defense that the Grey Wolf was gonna go down to defeat. Unfortunately, the Wolf was ready for everything the Badger threw at him, knowing when to engage and when to back off, when to bite, and when to toss. It was a good match, but in the end, the Wolf stood victorious in the arena with the Badger running off into the woods. So much for the fierce Badger from yesteryear.

This was my best division, even with that loss, so I feel pretty good about things. Tonight the second round begins with two divisions fighting it out – the Queens of the Sea and Sky division and the Why Not Both division.

Tune in tomorrow to see my results.
