Lions Reign Supreme and the Angels Kick Off 2022 Tonight

Today is a day of beginnings and endings. I’m happy to see both as we get the championship of the 2022 March Mammal Madness, bringing to an end a great tournament, and we get to see the start of the 2022 MLB season. Opening day kicks things off later today, and I am excited to see how my Angels perform this year and as usual…I have many hopes for a playoff run. As for the 2022MMM, the Pride of Lionesses finished off their run with a victory over the Orca. Of course, my bracket was dead a long time ago, but the battles were still fun to read about.

Finally, I take a look at a couple of interesting comics that I pulled yesterday, and these are going to the top of my read pile.

It’s a busy Thursday so let’s ramble about what’s going on.

The Rundown

2022 March Mammal Madness Champions

After more than a month of contests and 65 battles, we finally have a champion of the 2022 March Mammal Madness, and it is the Pride of Lionesses that rules the day.

Here’s the Rodent Recap…

Suffice to say; it was an incredible battle. We had fan interference once again, and this time it was a transient pod of Orcas who wanted to see what was going on in the arena. Of course, they got too close, and both the Grandma Orca and the Lioness Pride had interactions with them, but fortunately, neither was injured by the interlopers. We also saw plenty of harbour seal prey to be feasted upon. The battle was fierce, and we saw near-drowning and near-beaching; and in the end, the Orca decided that it was better to protect the pod than to allow them to get stuck on the beach. So while the Pride of Lionesses won the tournament, I think the Orca and her pod won as well since they survived the tournament.

Opening Day

Only about a month ago, I was worried we would not have baseball in 2022, but here we are. Today is Opening Day, and my Angels face off against the evil, cheating Houston Astros to begin the season. I believe the Angels were supposed to play Houston if the season started as normally scheduled, too, but instead of playing in Anaheim, I believe they were supposed to start in Houston. Regardless, I am looking forward to kicking off a good season, and I think Shohei Ohtani is ready to lead the Angels to victory in game one and to the playoffs for the first time in what seems like forever.

The other game in the West is San Diego against Arizona, and the revamped Mariners take on the revamped Twins.

I’m so excited that baseball is back!

The Top of my Weekly Pull List

This week I take an extra look at two issues from my pull list that look really good. The first, Little Monsters #2, comes from a writer that I have come to enjoy a lot lately – Jeff Lemire. Lemire is the primary creator of the Black Hammer universe, he writes Primordial, and he’s also the creator of Descender/Ascender, so I suppose I really like his writing. Little Monsters looks to be about a group of young vampires who are also the last children on Earth. Needless to say, I’m interested in finding out where this goes.

The other new issue that I wanted to highlight is Nottingham #6. This is written by David Hazan and provides an interesting and different take on the Robin Hood story, and I suppose when you look at things from the side of the law, the Merry Men could very well be considered terrorists. With the sixth issue coming out this week, I have a bunch of catching up to do but what I’ve seen so far looks pretty good.

It’s a Wrap

Well, the Lions are gonna sleep well tonight as they bring home the tournament trophy. They certainly deserved the win with all the trials they had to overcome. Hopefully, my Angels will march through the 2022 season like the Pride of Lionesses and forge their way to victory in playoffs.
In any case, I’m looking forward to making the rest of today a good one, and I hope you all have a great day.
