Baseball, Basketball, Tournaments, and Musk

With the 2022 March Mammal Madness tournament heading into the Final Roar today, we see four combatants left, but that’s not the only thing going on today. We’ve got the NCAA Basketball Championship, the Freeway series, and I just saw that Elon Musk just bought over 9% of Twitter. So many goings-on as April and Spring start gaining momentum.

The Goods

Final Roar

Tonight the 2022 March Mammal Madness continues to race towards the championship match as we see the Orca face off against the Swordfish and the Grizzly Bear take on the Pride of Lionesses.

The Orca won the Queens of Sea & Sky division with strong victories over the Common Prawn, the Olive Sea Snake, the Common Map Turtle, and Steller’s Sea Eagle. Along the way, she had a few snacks and proved why she was selected as the number one seed.

The opponent for the Orca has had a more difficult path to the Final Roar. The Swordfish came from the 2nd seed in the Why Not Both? Division and easily achieved victories over the Leaf Slug, the Hairy Frogfish, and the Therapsid. The battle with the top-seeded Walrus was brutal and left the Swordfish with an injury. With part of his bill regenerating quickly, the Swordfish still has to be considered the underdog against the Orca in this battle.

In the other match, we see the Grizzly Bear, who slashed and bashed it’s way past the Mexican Free-Tailed Bat, the Gray Wolf, the Jaguar, and in an intense battle, the Wapiti Elk. While I would normally place the Grizzly in the favorite spot for the fight tonight, the fact that he sustained an injury in the Elk battle could prove troublesome. Facing off a Pride of Lionesses might be difficult with reduced vision.

The Pride of Lionesses had an easier trek through the tournament. They defeated the Labor of Moles, took down the Sneak of Weasels, buried the Lodge of Beavers, and outlasted the Stench of Skunks. Now they face their most formidable opponent – the Grizzly Bear. I’ll place them in the favorite sport since the bear is injured, but this could be a pretty bloody fight.

The contests kick off tonight at 5 pm, and I’ll take a look at the battles tomorrow.

NCAA Championship

And then there were 2…Kansas and North Carolina face off tonight in the NCAA tournament. Sadly, I missed out on turning in my picks for the tournament, so I really have no preference. I had picked Gonzaga and Arizona to make it this far in any case. I am a bit surprised North Carolina made it past Duke in the Final Four, but I think Kansas is going to show why they were a number one seed and pull out a victory in this Championship.

Angels take Game One

The Freeway series started last night, and my Angels took game one behind a strong showing from their new pitcher, Noah Syndergaard. Let’s hope that’s a sign of good things to come as the 2022 season begins on Thursday.

Twitter’s New Boss

I’m not always a fan of Elon Musk, but he’s got the idea that Twitter is the town square of modern times. With that belief, he feels that there should be FREE SPEECH on the platform, and on that, I agree. Hopefully, his move to become the majority shareholder will give him the leverage to ensure that the current assault on free speech goes away. Let people talk. Let people debate. Let people express their ideas like the American founding fathers intended. We’ll see if he’s able to pull it off.

It’s a Wrap

Today’s got so many things going on, but I felt I had to at least touch on these four.
In any case, I’m looking forward to making the rest of today a good one, and I hope you all have a great day.
