The Week that Was – Week 9 of 2022

This has been a crazy week to fire up my blogging muscles again, but I had some fun. On Saturday evening, I recalled that March Madness was approaching and that I had to check to see if there would be a March Mammal Madness this year. Fortunately, there is a tournament, and I was so excited I started thinking about how I would try covering it this year. That’s where I left things until Sunday.

Sunday was freezing here in San Diego, so I only ran a mile instead of my usual 3–5 miles, but on that run, an idea started percolating. I could put together my own tournament to figure out what games I focus on playing. That was the birth of my March Gaming Madness.

Monday saw my standard Marvel Unlimited new release post, but I kept thinking about MGM and started listing out games I could add to a selection pool of contenders for my tournament. I also started really thinking about the idea that whatever game wins my contest would be a game that I want to play to completion.

Tuesday featured my typical DC Universe Infinite post and another set of games I thought I would be able to push through to completion, but the big info dump was the March Mammal Madness calendar. I could definitely see myself working my way through SWTOR, ESO, or STO, and I was highly anticipating the MMM bracket drop on Wednesday.

Wednesday saw the madness begin with posts covering my weekly pull list, my next set of games to add to my selection pool for my tournament, and the 2022 March Mammal Madness bracket was released. Orca, Pride of Lionesses, Walrus, and Grizzly Bear, were the top seeds, and they looked ready to rumble.

With the bracket for March Mammal Madness released, Thursday saw a slowdown in activity. I still managed to add some more games, these from Steam, into my selection pool and brought the number to 61…only 3 more are needed to reach my 64 tournament goal.

But then Friday rolled around, and I found 11 additions to put in the pool to bring the total to 72. Well, I suppose – the more, the merrier. Actually, it will be nice to have some games that miss this tournament that I can throw into future contests…if this one works out well enough.

Anyway, I think this was a pretty good week to get back into regular posting. I might have overdone things a bit, but I feel good about rolling out my March Gaming Madness and covering the March Mammal Madness, and I look forward to a crazy March of animal and gaming contests.

I hope you all had a good week as well.
