My Team – It’s Past Time

Today for Blaugust, I took a detour…

I’m usually not focused solely on MLB but with the trade deadline passing today and my Angels suffering one of their worst seasons ever, it was a big thing on my mind. For the first time in at least a decade, the Angels actually made some rational and reasonable moves at the deadline and got rid of players that could help other teams while brining in some young talent for their farm system.

A few years ago when the Angels had the best player in baseball – Shohei Ohtani – they skipped on trading him to better the long term prospects of the team…then they let him go to free agency when they were given an opportunity to resign him. Total idiots!

The team then went on to lose 99 games. They should have lost 100 but somehow managed to convince themselves that because they didn’t lose 100 that they were competitive. Yes, the management and Arte Moreno kept telling fans and the media that they were a competitive team. And they lost 99 games!

This year they may finally reach to 100 mark.

But finally they are doing something that may turn things around in a couple of years.

The Angels have been laughing stocks for over a decade. They’ve had generational talents like Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani – on the team at the same time! But while they had some great players, they also had their share of drug addicts like Josh Hamilton, players who could not play more that a dozen games a year like Anthony Rendon, or players that the coaches kept feeding fentanyl and oxycodone until they died like Tyler Skaggs.

And all the while, the management and Arte Moreno kept filling out lineup cards with crappy players who wouldn’t even be on other team’s double A team.

It’s been pathetic!

Finally, the team has made some moves to pull a team that has plenty of fanbase, plenty of money, but has become synonymous with losers, pull them around onto the right track. They actually looked to the future rather than rushing draft picks to the majors to fill holes in the big league team.

Usually when you are on a rollercoaster, there is a period when the cars go up, but for the Angels, it has been nothing but down since Arte Moreno took over.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on longer than I planned and didn’t really get to the point of highlighting the new members of my team, so I’ll have to do that later this week.

I’m just happy to see my team finally do something positive for the first time in a decade.
