Champion Rotation – Pre 6
Wow – it is good to learn something new every day. Today's new thing is that I just learned that there is a different free champion rotation for summoners under level 6 than there is for everyone over level 6.
Since I'm headed quickly to level 6, I have to plan for a change in champions. I've been using Ashe for the first few games of my new summoner.
She is not part of the post level 6 rotation at this point, but she is not too expensive. Currently her cost is 260 Riot Points or 450 Influence Points.
Riot Points are purchased in the store for money. I am pretty sure you can buy almost anything with these points. I currently have 400 which I think I got for starting up my account – I don't recall paying anything for them.
Influence Points are gained from each game played. I did not know this, but apparently you tend to get around 100 IP for games you win and 68 for a loss as long as the game goes 37 minutes.
Now this is according to the Riot web site, not from any experience I've had…
In co-op games versus the AI, summoners under level 9 get full IP and XP, but this diminishes as your level increases and they encourage play against other players. Also, shorter games give less IP and XP.
In any case, the current rotation for those of us under level 6 includes the following champions:
Ashe, Garen, Jinx, Kha'Zix, Lissandra, Lux, Ryze, Shyvana, Varus, and Wukong.
Ashe, Jinx, and Varus are usually used as ADCs in the bottom lane. Garen, Wukong, Lissandra, and Ryze are used as top laners often. Kha'Zix and Shyvana I've seen used as top and jungle, and Kha'Zix can go mid lane as well. Lux, I've seen as a mid laner or a support. Ryze and Lissandra can also go mid, and I've seen Wukong do plenty of jungle fighting as well.
So with these campions, I think you get a good mix of for the first few levels.
I've played Ashe, Lux, and Wukong on my main, and Ashe on my new summoner, but I think I should branch out more to get a feel for these other champs. Also, when level 7 hits, I have to see if I want to purchase any of these pre-6 champs or just play with the current week's free rotation.
