A Real Starter and a Real Win

Nick Tropeano took the mound for the Angels Monday and he looked like a real major league pitcher…as opposed to what Deck McGuire did Sunday. Sure Nick gave up a home run in the first like a Deck did but he quickly turned things around and held the Tigers to that one run for 5 innings.

Both Offense and Pitching

The offense also picked things up a bit from Sunday and doubled their scoring output. Simmons was a contributor again but this time he knocked it outta the park for a 2 run home run. Eric Young Jr. also helped out with the first dinger of his career. Kaleb Cowart chipped in with a couple of doubles to improve his batting average from .091 to .160 and on the whole the team seemed happy to be back in Southern California. Hopefully this will continue.

In injury news, with Tyler Skaggs on the DL we may be stuck with Deck McGuire for another few starts. I really wish management would bring someone else up and give them a shot – they can’t pitch any worse that him. Also, with today being Mike Trout’s birthday I’m hoping he can shake off his wrist trouble and get back in the lineup. It’s hard to believe this guy’s just turning 27.

Even though there were some quality contributions on the offensive side of things, I’m gonna give my Player of the Game to Nick Tropeano since he was able to overcome the home run in the first inning to pitch a good game.
