Rough Fights All Around

A Leprechaun and a Wolverine Walk into a Bar

Well for these two, nothing seems to go right today. For Mad Sweeney, he just can’t get any luck without his magical coin and Old Man Logan stepped into a town run by a rogue Hulk. Neither faired too well but I have a feeling at least one will be back…

Coin or Spear

American Gods: Season 2, Episode 7 – Treasure of the Sun is probably one of my favorite episodes on the season. It focuses on Mad Sweeney who happens to be such a cool character (in my book) and we finally get some history of his origin and background. But sadly, being without his lucky coin for so long has taken its toll and other than drinking and warning Shadow about Wednesday over and over, he really seems to have fallen into a depression. Such is his plight that he actually challenges Odin and takes on Shadow over his spear.

Things don’t end well and we end up with another major death in the family of immortals we’ve come to enjoy watching each week. And this one is a pretty big blow since I thought the huge Leprechaun was gonna play a big role in the coming battle among the old and new gods.

We’ve learned that gods who don’t have followers don’t come back when killed and those that commit suicide are done for, but what about those who die by Odin’s spear? Hopefully the big thug will come back and in the mean time, Shadow and Odin need to figure out how to get his spear back from the Sun God.

How Old is Too Old?

Old Man Logan #48 King of Nothing: Part One by Ed Brisson, Ibraim Roberson, and Carlos Lopez.  Published by Marvel Comics, 2018.

I was gonna read issue #49 but it turned out to be the second part of this story arc and I’m glad I jumped back to this issue.

#48 sets up an interesting tale for Logan in another Canadian Town. This one happens to be controlled by someone called Maestro and his cronies don’t take kindly to Wolverine sniffing around. The problem comes to a crux though since the Old Man’s healing factor isn’t what it once was and neither are his fighting reflexes. So when Maestro turns out to be a relative of Hulk, things get messy fast. I enjoyed the issue and look forward to Reading the rest of the story arc.

It’s a Wrap

Both these guys can take a lot of punishment but I think Wolverine will be the first to get back up. I’m not even sure Sweeney is gonna make it back into the game and it’s sad to see him fall but he’s been fun to watch all season. Hopefully when Odin gets his spear back and the big battle happens the Leprechaun will make a reappearance.
