Bloodline Part II
The first issue in this series laid out the basis for the world it takes place in, namely that Peter and MJ were married and had a son they named Ben…that is before a battle with a guy calling himself Cadaverous killed MJ and sent Peter spiraling into a fit of depression. Peter has basically been an absentee dad and now Ben has made it into high school and has started to exhibit spider powers.

I think that alone is a pretty cool take on the character but then we get into the meat of the story and I am enjoying it. Having raised by his Great Aunt May, Ben knows little of his father much less that his father was once Spider-Man. That all changes in this issue as May has to spill the beans in order to help Ben understand where his abilities come from. Determined to reject everything his father is and was, Ben turns his back on his powers until he is confronted with a no win situation – use his powers or spend the night in jail.

Cadaverous has been lurking in the underground of the city since he vanquished Spider-Man and now that he sees the hero has returned all these years later, he’s determined get rid of him once again.

This is a pretty interesting read and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Verdict

I rate this issue a definite Read as I find this series a lot of fun so far.
