The Extinction Machines, Part Two

Things seem to have calmed down a bit in this issue as the hero’s were able to stem the destruction unleashed in the last installment. However, this time around we see more of the mind control that seems to be occurring and so many of the people who the League saved from death are now automatons for whatever initiated the attack.

It turns out this assault on Earth is multifaceted, with the mind control, hot spots under the Earth’s crust, and an invasion force of space ships that appear surrounding the Watchtower. Things are not looking too good for the League and to complicate matters, they still don’t have much of a relationship with the current Superman.

Oh sure, he’s been zooming around the world saving people and doing super stuff, but this is still not the Superman the Justice League has known for years. I’m sure in future issues he’ll come to be a fully fledged part of the League but currently he’s still an outsider even if he is the one the team turns to for help.

For this issue though, things are not looking good even with the whole league searching for answers.

Verdict

This issue is a bit of a step down from the first but I’m hoping the introduction of Superman into the picture and the questions about how he’ll fit into the team will make this series worth reading. While I like all the action I want some story and characterization with my heroes.

Give it a Read

I rate this issue a Read and am holding out for the promise of this title.

My recommendation of the first issue of this series can be found here, and this comic can be found on Comixology, on DC Universe, or at your local comic book shop.
