Book I, Part III

This is an interesting issue that highlights the idea that just because the Jedi follow the same religion, they do not all think with the same mindset.

In the last issue, we saw that Windu had gathered a team of Jedi to travel with him to Hissrich on the Outer Rim for a mission. Apparently, the Separatists were moving to the planet to establish a base to recruit support from the far reaches of the galaxy, and the Republic wanted to contest those advances.

So the Jedi show up on the planet and face off against a bunch of droids only to find out that there’s a mercenary droid, AD-W4 that Is running the show. In this issue, we learn that General Grievous sent the mercenary specifically because he expected Jedi to show up on the world, and AD-W4 was known to be good at fighting the Knights.

While I enjoyed the interplay between the mercenary and Grievous, I became really annoyed by the art in this issue. Not all of it was frustrating, but there were quite a few panels that were just green, green, and more green…oh yeah and a little black lining. It was overwhelming and really threw me out of the story. Sure, the reasoning for the green light was that the lightsabers were green and were the only light source, but it was still annoying.

So with my dislike of the art, this issue was saved by Grievous, AD-W4, and the last few pages where Prosset Dibs challenges Windu’s leadership. This is clearly leading up to a cool Jedi fight in the next issue, but the build-up was good anyway though I’m not really sure what set Dibs off.

In any case, the story saved this issue, and I certainly hope the art or at least the colors get better in future installments.

Verdict

Give it a ReadThis issue got confusing but I’m hoping the series improves so I’ll keep Reading it.
